Highlights of the Week
1) Pause AI Experiments
Elon Musk, Yuval Noah Harari, Emad Mostaque, Steve Wozniak and others have signed a letter calling for AI labs to "put on hold" training powerful AI models.
When we examine the details of the campaign, it is emphasized that AI technologies can make great and positive contributions to our lives. However, it is pointed out that many companies have recently entered into an "AI arms race" without thinking about the consequences. While it is stated that this situation may have a great impact on the world, it is pointed out that there is no planning as to what these effects will be.
In this mysterious AI world, the developers themselves cannot even predict how the models will evolve in the future! At this point, the campaign calls on the superheroes of the AI world to help. Instead of halting all AI development, the campaign suggests putting the training of GPT-4 and more powerful models on hold until a time when we are sure that they will be truly beneficial for humanity.
OpenAI, which has already released GPT-4, has often mentioned in its 99-page report that GPT can reach very dangerous points. I will discuss this 99-page report and the threats that artificial intelligence may pose to humanity in another post, stay tuned!
2) Zoom IQ
Zoom announced exciting new features and a collaboration with OpenAI! Teams will now be able to brainstorm using a whiteboard while talking on Zoom. You can even invite models like ChatGPT to this stormy environment and benefit from the ideas of our artificial intelligence friend.
Zoom has not forgotten those who are always late for meetings. When you join the meeting late, you can quickly catch up by asking Zoom IQ about what was said and what's going on. When the meeting is over, Zoom IQ will prepare a document summarizing the entire meeting for you. So you won't miss any important notes.
And if you leave the conversation for a few minutes and come back to a pile of messages, Zoom IQ will compile them for you and, if necessary, prepare a draft message in your own style, covering the topics discussed. Moreover, you can let it choose the agenda and topics for the next meeting.
Finally, it will help you create email tasks and send emails quickly, taking into account your customer meetings and to-dos.

3) Microsoft Security Copilot

4) WorldCoin
And I left the most exciting news of the week for last, what you are about to read may make you feel like you are in a utopian/dystopian novel. You decide which one:)
The WorldCoin project, using the slogan "HUMANNESS IN THE AGE OF AI", comes up with an open and permissionless identity protocol called World ID. This protocol allows people to verify their humanity online while maintaining their anonymity.
The extraordinary developments in the world of artificial intelligence have made it difficult to distinguish between AI and humans, and have brought about the need to recognize and verify real people. To help solve this problem, with World ID, individuals will be able to receive a unique future-proof human credential through a secure biometric device in a privacy-preserving way. Importantly, this enables a path to AI-powered non-state UBI (universal basic income) and equitable global distribution of digital currencies.
To summarize briefly in 3 steps, the goal of this project is;
1) To create a global and unique identity (id) for all people with your biometric data. This registration process is done with a device called orb. This device scans your eye, confirms that you are a human being based on the fact that iris patterns are unique to each person, and registers you in the system with your biometric data.
2) Creating a global currency to be used among the people who sign up for this system (the name is already world coin:)
3) Being able to participate in the entire worldcoin network through a global application. (Creating communities, social media, trading, buying and selling, etc...)
The founder of the project, Sam Altman, who is also the CEO of OpenAI, a company that is currently making a name for itself, launched this project with the main goal of providing a minimum income for everyone. And he thinks this can be done with the prosperity and abundance that AI and other technological advances (fusion, etc.) will create. Thanks to this project, it will be possible to provide a basic income to sustain a person's life without any prerequisites or formalities.
To be included in this project, you first need to apply and have a world id. In the first phase, the orb device, which will scan your biometric data from your eyes, will be given to various institutions or individuals in countries.
